KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The Kuwait Municipality has agreed to allocate three sites for the construction of housing complexes for expatriate workers. Each site is 150,000 square meters in Jahra Governorate, West of Hajjaj City, West of Jahra City. This came in application of the decision of the Council of Ministers issued on July 20, 2020, reports the daily Al-Qabas.

According to the municipality, the land must be handed over to the Direction des Domaines of the Ministry of Finance to be sold at public auction to the private sector, provided that a detailed traffic study is submitted for the approval of the Direction Générale de la Circulation. , and that a comprehensive study assess the environmental and social impacts in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act, and that the executive body is authorized to make changes to sites that conflict with road networks or existing infrastructure services, or for any regulatory reason. He stressed the need for the three sites to meet the following standards for towns and work gatherings, such as the number of floors – four floors for residential buildings and two floors for service and commercial buildings.

The municipality explained that the commercial rates for work complexes will be five percent for commercial buildings and five percent for service buildings and buildings for commercial use in work complexes such as the central market, the bank, cafes, restaurants, multi-purpose halls and shops. The construction percentages for labor complexes are 20% construction concentration for residential buildings and 10% for service and commercial buildings.

According to an informed source, the three sites proposed for the construction of employment housing complexes west of Hajjaj town are at a sufficient distance from the five square kilometer urban area to ensure safety. The road network isolates the two regions from each other. She revealed that the structural plan directorate has set the standards for workers’ housing estates and assemblies currently in effect, adding that work is underway to study housing standards for workers and workers’ housing estates, their distribution, and the proposed densities. within the construction sites of the fourth structural plan for the State of Kuwait 2040, in the light of the current situation and future variables to prepare and estimate the extent of housing needs.
