The municipality invites entries to the competition

The Municipality of Pondicherry has invited residents and non-governmental organizations to participate in the Swachh Innovative Technology Challenge as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2022 competition.

The Centre’s Swachh Survekashan competition is held annually in urban communities to improve waste management. Participants could come up with innovative solutions for solid waste management, real-time garbage management monitoring and an application for public grievances, a statement from the Municipality of Pondicherry said on Saturday.

Interested persons should submit their innovative solutions, addressed to “Commissioner, Municipality of Pondicherry, Kamban Kalaiarangam (first floor), Lal Bahadur Shastri Street, Pondicherry-605001 no later than January 6. Applications can also be sent by mail to [email protected] .dans.

The statement said that the current collection and disposal of waste was carried out by Swachatha Corporation. It was taking steps to encourage segregation at source by keeping separate bins for degradable and non-degradable waste in the home for handing over to conservation workers. Door-to-door campaigns and announcements via FM radio, cable TV and banners were carried out.

However, the response from members of the public has been poor, the statement said.
