Soon, a master plan for each municipality in the State: Rane | Goa News

Panaji: The urban development department will soon formulate a master plan for each municipality, said urban development minister Vishwajit Rane. Rane, who chaired a meeting with department officials, said the master plan will only be prepared after consultation with stakeholders and advisers.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed all the projects in progress as well as the proposals blocked for various reasons.
“We reviewed all completed and pending projects, as well as ongoing projects. I instructed officials to investigate how best to utilize central government programs, ensure ease of doing business in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and develop a master plan for each municipality by consultation with local agencies,” Rane said.
The ministry will also undertake a public awareness campaign to educate people about its services.
Sources said similar review meetings will be held once a month to assess the status of ongoing projects, the use of grants and the functioning of municipalities.
While several master plans have been drafted for the state capital, plans to develop a master plan for Mapusa have been announced several times.
In October 2014, the then BJP government prepared a master plan for Margao by awarding the contract to LKS India Pvt Ltd.
