DHENKANAL: Newly elected Dhenkanal Municipality BJP Chairwoman Jayanti Patra on Thursday alleged that armed miscreants entered her house in Similia and resorted to firing blanks. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday evening. Patra filed an FIR with the local police in this regard.

In her complaint, Patra alleged that four to five armed miscreants arrived at her home on motorbikes around 10:30 p.m. “When I came out, they insulted me and threatened to kill me. When the disbelievers opened fire, I ran inside and closed the door. Soon after, the disbelievers fled,” she said.

Patra demanded stern action against those involved in the incident. Dhenkanal Town IIC Rajendra Mohapatra said that based on the complaint, a case has been registered. That day, the police and the scientific team went to the complainant’s home for investigation. An investigation is ongoing and strict action will be taken against those found guilty, the IIC added.

A few days ago, violence erupted in the town of Dhenkanal after the ULB elections. BJD and BJP workers fought a pitched battle on the day of the counting of the votes. Police had arrested five people, two from the BJD and three from the BJP, in connection with the clash. Since then, tension has been simmering between the two political parties.
