Emirates news agency – Brand Dubai and Dubai Municipality consider creative proposals for joint park overhaul initiative

DUBAI, September 29, 2021 (WAM) – Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai Government Media Office (GDMO), and the Municipality of Dubai held a meeting to review the creative proposals presented by the selected participants to redesign 10 parks public in the emirate.

The meeting, held at GDMO in the presence of Mona Al Marri, CEO of GDMO, aimed to help the 30 attendees align their designs with the city’s broader vision of urban redevelopment and the needs of the community.

Al Marri said, “We are constantly seeking to involve young people in projects that help improve Dubai’s urban environment in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to make Dubai the best city in the world to live in. We were extremely impressed with the proposals. which were submitted by Emirati professionals chosen to participate in the overhaul of public parks.

“The participants, who include architects, interior designers and event planners, were able to add new dimensions of creativity to the project in their efforts to create attractive spaces that attract more visitors and enhance the sustainability of the city.

She noted that the latest joint project is part of an ongoing partnership between Brand Dubai and the Dubai Municipality to undertake beautification projects to enrich the city’s urban landscape.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “This joint venture supports the common goal of Dubai Municipality and the Dubai brand to encourage youth participation in the development of the emirate. Through this initiative, we seek to preserve and improve green spaces. in a way that allows community members to engage more creatively with their surroundings. ”

Shaima Al Suwaidi, City Branding Manager at Brand Dubai, said: “Over the past few weeks we have been working closely with participants to create new designs for the parks and ensure they meet key project objectives. . We have seen their enthusiasm and are extremely proud of the designs they have presented so far. We look forward to working with them in the next phase of the project as they finalize their proposals ahead of the final presentation. ”

Members of the project committee who reviewed the proposals included: Asem Abdulrazzaq Alqassim, Acting Director of the Executive Planning Department of the Municipality of Dubai; Aisha Abdulrahim Abualshaweb, Acting Head of the Planning Permits Section of the Municipality of Dubai; Mahra Salem Al Shamsi, Acting Head of the Urban Design Section of the Municipality of Dubai; Ahmed Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Senior Director, Event Operations, DTCM; and Emirati product designer Khalid Alshafar.

Under the 2040 master plan, green and recreational spaces and dedicated public park areas in Dubai are expected to double in size to serve the expected growth in the number of residents and visitors.
