Elon Musk | Tiktok: “Is TikTok destroying civilization?” Elon Musk tweets, even though he wishes Twitter was like this

New Delhi: Days after reports surfaced that Tesla CEO Elon Musk told Twitter staff at a meeting on Thursday that he wanted the microblogging site to be more like TikTok and WeChat, the tech mogul shared a cryptic tweet early Saturday asking if TikTok was “destroying civilization.”

“Is TikTok Destroying Civilization?” he asked. “Or maybe social media in general,” he wrote in a later tweet. In his first direct call, Musk told Twitter staff about his goals for the company once he assumes ownership, including making it look more like TikTok and WeChat and allowing “outrageous remarks.”

However, the Tesla CEO stressed that such remarks should not be amplified.

If Twitter wants to reach the goal of one billion users, it needs to be more like WeChat and TikTok, he told employees.

“There is no WeChat equivalent outside of China. You basically live on WeChat in China. If we can recreate that with Twitter, we will have great success,” he suggested at the meeting. Virtual.

According to The Verge, Musk responded to an employee’s question by saying that people should be allowed to “say some pretty outrageous things within the law” but that such talk shouldn’t always be amplified.
