Best City of Cleanliness: Award to the Municipality of Rameswaram News WAALI

On behalf of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Rameswaram Municipality has been awarded as the cleanest city among cities under 50,000 population under a program held in Delhi.

A three-day event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development as Cleanliness Dialogue and Technology Exhibition on Big Cities, Small Cities of the Year was held on September 29, October 30 and October 1 at Talkadora Maidan, Delhi . The event was organized to mark the first anniversary of the Clean India Urban Movement 2.0 launched by the Prime Minister with the aim of creating waste-free cities.

Ministers of the State Department of Urban Development, mayors of municipal corporations and heads of municipalities attended. More than 160 prizes were awarded in various categories. About 1,800 people from various departments, including local state government and city administrators, attended. Shiv Das Meena, Secretary of Drinking Water Supply Department of Tamil Nadu Municipal Government attended and spoke.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kausal Kishore presented 70 cleanliness awards to small towns on Friday.

The municipality of Rameswaram received a special award at the Sugathara Cleanliness Awards in cities with 25,000 to 50,000 inhabitants. Only this municipality in Tamil Nadu has been nominated for this award. The award was received by the Municipal Chairman of Rameswaram, KE Nasakhan.

Various facilities provided for devotees visiting Rameswaram and especially for devotees from North India; Agni kept the beach clean with sanitation; It was said that this award was given not only for the absence of litter around the Rameswaram Ramanatha Swamy temple, but also for the maintenance of greenery, purified water, pothole-free roads and satisfaction the needs of the local population.

Around 35 technology vendors showcased various cleaning products, solutions for garbage, recycling, recycling all types of seasonal waste, recycling technologies, IT operations, waste water management technologies, small waste treatment units in the technical exhibition organized on the occasion.
